All desktop boxes in my apartment in Bernhausen/Filderstadt are connected via 4 port MasterView KVM switch to a 19'' Philipps VT191TFT display, a Cherry keyboard and a MS Intellimouse Explorer.
SMITHERSSMITHERS is an old Pentium III ("Coppermine") box with 1.5 GB of Kingston Value RAM that dates back to ca. summer of 2003. It has a SAMSUNG SP0812N 80GB hard disk attached to a Promise Technology Inc. Ultra IDE Controller and additionally a 320 GB Samsung hard disk. The graphics adapter is an NVidia GeForce 6200. Networking is done with the classic 3Com EtherLink XL 10/100 PCI TX NIC (3C905B-TX). It has a Philips DVD Writer and a Toshiba DVD drive attached plus a secondary monitor, an ASUS 19'' TFT display.
MARGEMARGE is a Linux box running Ubuntu Hardy Heron. The mobo is an Intel D201GLY2 with 1 GB of Kingston ValueRAM and an Intel Celeron processor 220. The hard disk is a 200 GB Samsung. The graphics adapter is an onboard SiS662 and the DVD drive attached is a Samsung.
HOMERHOMER is a box that is based on an Intel D945GCLF2 mobo and is otherwise identical to MARGE, except for the 2GB of Kingston ValueRAM, the Intel Atom™ processor 330 and the onboard Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950.
SPOCK SPOCK is my old notebook computer, an ASUS M2N from 2003 with an Intel Pentium M at 1.4 GHz, 768MB of RAM and an 890GB Fujitsu hard disk. |
